Mary Catherine Adams

Mary Catherine Adams, age 81, of Sonoma, passed away Dec. 28, 2013, surrounded by family, after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

Mary was born Dec. 25, 1932, to Adam and Anna (Mowry) Jangula in the “old Mowry House” in Lemmon, S.D. Mary moved to Sonoma at age 10 and is a graduate of Sonoma Valley High. She was a loving fixture at Hanna Boys Center for more than 30 years, working in several departments before settling in as the infirmary secretary. The boys always knew they could count on Ms. Adams for a warm hug and a kind smile.

Mary was a longtime member of the Woman of the Moose. In retirement, Mary drove for FISH, and was an active volunteer for the Sonoma Valley Hospital Auxiliary.

Mary is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Gerry Brown of Napa; her daughter and son-in-law, Roseanne and Robert Jacobsen of Vacaville; her son, Wayne J. Adams of Daytona Beach, Fla.; five grandsons, Shane and Derrick Clarkson, Christopher and Zachary Adams, Mathew Jacobsen, many loving nieces and nephews and her little life buddy, Sachi.

Mary’s family would like to thank the caring team at Hospice By The Bay for their kindness and heartfelt support. You are all angels in our eyes.

Please join family and friends for a memorial Mass and celebration of Mary’s life at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at the Hanna Boys Center Chapel, 17000 Arnold Drive. A private graveside interment will be held at a later date.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer’s Association.
