Martha ‘Marty’ Cabello

Martha “Marty” Cabello, 78, died at home on March 20, 2014.

Martha was born to Ruby Douglas MacFeeters and Garfield Douglas, on March 20, 1936, in Dallas, Texas. She married Gary Wylan Dains in 1951. They moved to Kansas where they made their home and welcomed Garolyn Dains and Bernard Dains into the world. September Dains Brown and Mancel Dains were welcomed into the world after they moved to California in 1962. Sonoma was the longtime home to Marty and her husband, Luis Cabello.

For the rest of her life she helped the Hispanic community with legal issues and helped with all aspects of becoming acclimated to life in Sonoma, organizing help for the handicapped was something in which she took great joy.

She was a very warm and caring woman who loved her family, children and helping the community. Those who knew her will all miss her smile, laughter, good humored and endearing stories. They will all miss her regular and lengthy phone calls. She was always eager to talk to those who called. The times spent with family and friends, whether just sitting around talking or enjoying games of dominoes and cards are some of their most cherished memories.

She is survived by her husband, Luis Cabello; children, Garolyn Dains, September Dains Brown and Mancel Dains; grandchildren, Marc Dains (Gina Dains Pierson), Zachary Dains (Kassidee Dains, Jeremiah Angle (Joshua Roose), Amanda Nichols (Benjamin Dains); great-grandchildren, Owen and Ian Pierson, Jacob Dains, Ariel Roose; siblings, James Douglas, Patricia MacFeeters Mealer; extended family, Cindi Douglas Sarco and Tabatha Sarco.

A memorial service will be held at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St., Sonoma, California 95476, on March 29, 2014, at noon.
