Marsha Susan Parker

Marsha Susan Parker passed away peacefully on Aug. 13, 2014, at home in Sonoma. She was 68.

Marsha was a native of Greenbelt, Maryland, where she attended high school before marrying and moving to North Carolina with her ex-husband with whom she had two children. They eventually moved to San Francisco and later settled in Mill Valley.

Marsha and her partner of 28 years, John Bogardus, moved from San Francisco to Sonoma in 2004 to be closer to family. Known for her sharp wit and irreverent sense of humor, she was a regular at jazzercise and loved to attend films and Witchie Poo shows at the Sebastiani Theatre. Marsha also had a lifelong passion for modern art and dance, especially ODC and Paul Taylor. She was a wonderful friend, sister, daughter, mother, wife, and a dedicated grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her mother, Janet Jacobs-Parker (Greenbelt, Maryland), her husband, John Bogardus; her daughters, Lisa Summers (Scott) and Eva Saull (David); her stepdaughter, Alexis Bogardus (Jorge); her seven grandchildren, Sarah, Jesse, Owen, Twyla, Cosette, Saiorse and Kaia; her sisters, Sharon O’Keefe, Naomi Hatch (Tom), Shelley Parker; and brother, Mitchell Parker.

There will be a celebration of Marsha’s life on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. with a ceremony at 2 p.m. Contact jblcsw1@comcast.net for address and directions.

Donations in Marsha’s memory may be made to the Sebastiani Theater Foundation or Hospice By The Bay.
