Marjorie R Wilson

Marjorie R Wilson, 85, of Sonoma, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. Born to the late Oliver and Genevieve Hicks; sister to Donald Hicks and Norma Atlee; married to the late George G. Wilson in 1947; mother to George B. Wilson, Karen (Leslie) Fuller and Deborah L. Pruitt: grandmother to Grant T. Wilson, Donetta Pruitt (deceased), Darryl L. and Donald “Mousse” R. Pruitt; and special cousins Diane and Frank McBain.

Born in Suisun City, attended Armijo High School, then moved to Sonoma and graduated from Sonoma Valley High School. She worked for Simmons Pharmacy, Friberg’s Rexall, Broadway Market and Plaza Liquors. Marj also cleaned the homes of a number of local families for many years. When no longer able to continue that line of work, she volunteered at Sonoma Valley Hospital and logged over 1,000 hours.

Marj was a great cook and loved to entertain, especially for the holidays. She loved to sew and made dresses for her daughters when they were in grammar school and later sewed for her grandsons. She loved antiques and traveling. She especially loved Spain, but not so much Morocco, because of the poverty. She loved animals and always seemed to have at least one cat or dog, but had as many as eight at one time.

Special thanks to Chris Manley for all she did for Marj and having the patience of a saint. Thanks also to Andrea Nelson for her friendship and care giving. Much appreciation to Hospice By The Bay for the care, kindness and gentle way they treated Marj.

Please join Marj’s family for a tribute to her life at the Sonoma Methodist Church, 109 Patten St., Sonoma, Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pets Lifeline or Hospice By The Bay.
