Margaret N. Castorena

A loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, entered into eternal rest, spirits were lifted on Jan. 12, 2014. Her parents, Eugene and Sally Nunez, husband, Carlos Castorena and sisters, Claira Jean Nunez and Estella Rodriguez, preceded her in death.

Margaret moved to Sonoma in the early 1950s where she met the love of her life, Carlos and raised four children. She worked at Friendly Cafe, L & N donut shop and ended her employment working at Sonoma Valley Hospital where she was employed for many years.

Margaret loved spending time with her family and treated friends that entered her home as if they were family. The spouses of her children loved her as a mother. Margaret enjoyed cooking and we will always remember the delicious meals she prepared.

Margaret is survived by her sisters, Emily (Daniel) Castorena, Rosemary Nunez and her brother; Frank (Dina) Nunez; children, Carlos (Alice) Castorena, Yolanda Castorena , Henry (Mindy) Castorena and Charles Castorena; grandchildren, Jason, Michelle, Danisha, Kristina and Destinee; many nieces, nephews and her beloved four-legged companion, Koji.

Friends are invited to visit between noon and 7 p.m. with a vigil service starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church, 300 W. Napa St. Interment will immediately follow at St. Francis Solano Cemetery, 505 E. Napa St. Sonoma.
