Lucille Lipson, 97, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Sonoma Valley Hospital, Sonoma. Funeral and interment were Sept. 25, in Palo Alto.

Lucille was born Sept. 7, 1916, in Cleveland, Ohio, married Ben Lipson in 1938, and moved to Toledo, where they raised their two sons, Jerry and Michael. Lucille and Ben moved to Palo Alto in 1973 when Ben retired; in the early 1990s, they moved to Leisure World in Laguna Hills. Ben died in 1996; Lucille moved to Merrill Gardens in Sonoma in 2008.

Lucille’s greatest loves were her family, bridge and mahjongg. She was an outgoing, social woman, who enjoyed many volunteer activities.

Lucille is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Marilyn Lipson, Palm Desert; and Michael and Peggy Lipson, Sonoma; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Lucille’s life will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m., at Merrill Gardens, 800 Oregon St. Sonoma.
