The time is nigh: Native daughter Sarah Summers’ long-awaited CD release show is at hand.
“It’s coming up,” Summers said Wednesday. “I’m so excited, I can’t wait. This has been such a long process, it’s unreal.”
The long road is what singer-songwriters like Summers are all about. But the destination arrives quickly: Monday, March 24, at the Sebastiani Theatre. Tickets already are selling fast.
“People should buy tickets in advance,” Summers advised. “We’re probably going to sell out.”
Two months ago, the 20-year-old college student was finishing recording the debut album, “Lovely Little Things,” and conducting an online fundraiser to help pay for its production. Those efforts were successful.
“We raised $2,000 over our goal, so we ended up making about $7,400,” she said. That helped get “Lovely Little Things” produced and mastered, and covered some merchandise costs. Better still, it will pay for a film crew to be present at the Sebastiani, where Summers’ show will be recorded and made into a “massive marketing package,” she said.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m., doors open at 7. Wine and beer will be available for the sit-down performance.
“Then we’re moving the party to Murphy’s Irish Pub for the after-party,” Summers said.
Nearly a year in the making, “Lovely Little Things” is described as “a full-production storytelling of small town life and the characters within it.” Summers, who wrote all the songs, sings and plays guitar, banjo and other instruments.
On Monday – as the CD goes on sale for the first time – she’ll perform selections from the album alongside Sean Carscadden on guitars and piano, Cliff Hugo on bass, Mikey Lee Cannon on drums, Isaac Carter on guitars, Josh Yenne on pedal steel guitars, Dawn Angelosante and Tony Gibson providing harmonic vocals, and Michael Fesckes on the cello.
Carscadden, a local musician, producer and arranger who, along with sound engineer Andy Saks, worked with Summers to cut the album, said Wednesday, “Sarah’s a really amazing young talent. She’s only 20 years, and I think the product we’ve managed to put together … is a really cool, diverse and mature album for such a young lady.”
It was hard work, but it’s nearly over, Summers said. “Now we just get to share it and get it out there.”
