Litzenberg, O’Grady race to Vintage Fest Run wins

During Sonoma Valley’s recent Vintage Festival weekend, the annual Vintage Festival Runs took place, including both the 12K and 5K races that were held as major fundraisers for Sonoma Valley High School’s cross-country and track and field programs. Capturing his third straight Vintage Festival 12K title was the Dragons' cross-country coach and Glen Ellen standout long-distance runner John Litzenberg, who covered the picturesque, vineyard laced east-of-the-Plaza course in an even 42 minutes.

Litzenberg was followed in the final 12K standings by overall second-place and top women’s finisher Sarah Hallas, who cruised the course in 46 minutes, 14 seconds, while rounding out the top five were Justin Murray’s third place in 47:28; Shannon Rahlves’ fourth in 50:08; and Chris Jones’ fifth in 50:37.

Winning the Vintage Festival Run’s 5K race was Desmond O’Grady in 17:44, while rounding out the top five were second-place Sarah Slaymaker, also the top women’s finisher, in 19:04; Eddie Reyes’ third in 20:44; Joe Cuneo’s fourth in 21:01; and Krista Walser’s fifth in 21:17.
