Line of sight

Lions Club member Greg Baxter gets ready to test the eyes of a youngster at the recent Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue open house.

The Lions purchased the vision-screening device some months back and have been performing screenings at various community events. The club especially aims for children under the age of 8 since early detection can reduce the need for surgery in some cases. The club works with Dr. Dean Ezaki, who performs eye exams and prescribes glasses. Lions Club also offers $200 for people who can’t afford eyeglasses and do not have eye-care insurance.
