Earth awareness ‘bubbles’ up at Gloria Ferrer

Bubbles and Blooms fest tips its glass to sustainability|

For the second year, Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards presents its Bubbles & Blooms Festival on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 with intimate face-to-face instruction from a barrel of experts, as well as food stations inside, outside and in the cave – each paired with a sparkling wine. Chef Beth Sogaard will provide recipe cards so guests can recreate their taste experiences at home.

Earth Day awareness will inspire learning from experts in sustainable gardening, floral arranging, and nature photography. Some of the proceeds benefit Garden for the Environment, a nonprofit that works to teach sustainability through urban gardens, farms and foods.

General admission tickets are $65 and include food, wine tokens, speaker presentations on the main stage, tour options and floral displays.

Lectures on the main stage include

Garden for the Environment – Sustainable Gardening and Composting with Maggie Marks

Russian River Flower School’s Dundee Butcher “On Re-Arranging.” Butcher shares her story of starting in the flower business in London 10 years ago, designing for Kensington Palace, and all the crazy stories that go along with it.

Potting Sonoma Style with Sonoma Mission Gardens’ Deborah Thomas. Thomas uses color and succulents in containers to incorporate the ideas of simple Mediterranean elegance and Spanish flare.

Tours and hands-on workshops include photography throughout the property with Meredith Hayes, vineyard sustainability led by Mike Crumly, and DYI floral workshops. Workshops $25 each including materials. Event: $65 public; $60 to $55 wine club members.
