Food: Gentlemen (and women), start your hunger…

Nascar delectables will have you racing back for more!|

In case you are headed for Sonoma Raceway for any part of NASCAR weekend next weekend, or even if you are not, they have lots going on in the food and wine department off the track.

Watch for a “Party with (the king) Richard Petty for his 80th birthday,” enjoy the Patriots Jet team 25-minute air show, music by Toree McGee, introductions of the drivers, Natalie Gallo performing the national anthem, skydivers, Oregon Air National Guard flyover, and Grand Marshal Cristela Alonzo who will tell drivers to start their engine. Tickets at 800-870-7223.

Food wise, Chef William Quesada will launch new food items at the raceway during NASCAR weekend including a Crab Cake on A Stick – meaning a Dungeness crab mix dipped in a honey corn batter and deep fried – topped with lemon aioli and served with pineapple jalapeño coleslaw.

Chef Quesada will also offer four kinds of waffle sandwiches including a country egg scramble, vegetarian, classic Philly cheese, and one with buffalo chicken topped with blue cheese slaw.

And then there’s his “Belgian Style Pretzel” tossed with cinnamon and sugar. And a half pound of white corn chips and nachos topped with chicken or beef, cheese sauce, green chili, pinto beans, sour cream and pico de gallo. And don’t worry real NASCAR fans, fried Twinkies will still be around.
