Another Plaza tasting room uncorks

Alameda-based Jeff Cohn Cellars to pour ?on First Street West|

Jeff Cohn, former winemaker for the renowned Rosenblum Cellars in Alameda, will soon open a tasting room off of First Street West, across the breezeway from the Red Grape.

His winery Jeff Cohn Cellars is currently based in Oakland. He and his family live in Alameda.

Cohn studied at Johnson & Wales University and then earned an M.A. in Agricultural Chemistry from Cal State Fresno, working his way up and learning while at Rosenblum.

His wife, Alexandra Cohn, is co-owner and CFO of the company and is an accountant by trade. She was formerly an auditor for Ernst & Young, specializing in audits of hotels, wineries and employee benefit plans, which should come in very handy in the wine business.

Alexandra emailed to say they are still living in Alameda and will get an apartment for Jeff when they move the winery to Santa Rosa later in February. But their tasting room will be here in Sonoma, replacing a beauty salon in the old Feed Store building at First and West Napa streets.
