More Valentine’s Day menus in Sonoma

Valentine's Day just got a lot tastier in Sonoma|

Last week we ran a story on Valentine’s Day menus at local restaurants including Ramekins the Fig Café, Saddles Steakhouse, and the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn.

More chefs have chimed in with special features or menus.

Glen Ellen Star will offer a foie gras torchon with strawberry preserves, toasted walnut brioche and miners lettuces, plus wood roasted veal chop “au poivre” – artichokes, rhubarb, Pierogi Chocolate tart and ice cream, with the rest of the menu to be determined by what the San Rafael Farmers Market offers this weekend. $68.

At his Sonoma Grille, Nima Sherpa will offer a four-course menu of seared scallops, crispy polenta, Marin Miyagi oysters with ponzu sesame sauce or beef carpaccio as first course choices. Next comes butternut squash bisque or raspberry and rose petal salad on kale, followed by entrée selections of butternut squash ravioli, rack of lamb, salmon en croûte, or duck confit. It all finishes with heart-shaped raspberry cake, a honey wine pear with housemade vanilla ice cream, or a special custard of rose petals and pistachio strawberry custard. $65, kids $28. 4 to 9:30 p.m. Reserve at 938-7542 or sonomagrlleandbar.com.

The new owners of the Breakaway Café have a Valentine’s menu that includes a choice of Dungeness crab cake or a winter salad with shaved vegetables; entrée choice of petit filet mignon with celery root mash and baby carrots or sautéed Day Boat scallops with mushroom risotto. Dessert offers a dark chocolate torte or citrus pound cake with strawberry compote. $40 and $15 additional for wine pairing. 19101 Sonoma Highway, Sonoma. 996-5949.

Saul Gropman at Café LaHaye will serve the regular menu with some surprisingly romantic specials.
