Intergenerational LGBTQ opportunities in Sonoma

The local LGBTQ community is hosting both an inter-generational family meal on July 20, and applications are open now for new LGBTQ youth leadership teams.

The meal will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at Vintage House in Sonoma.

“After hearing that both our young people and seniors want to make connections across LGBTQ generations, we decided to create an event that everyone could enjoy,” said Eliseo Rivas, program coordinator for Sonoma County’s LGBT Connection Napa Sonoma. (lgbtconnection.org).

RSVPS are encouraged but not required. Lunch will be served and everyone is asked to bring a dish to share.

The Identity Project will be present to take portraits and there will be a discussion of gender labels and sexuality. Transportation is also available.

Coming soon to Sonoma Valley and Santa Rosa is the next round of LGBTQ youth leadership teams. The teams provide an opportunity for LGBTQ young people, ages 14 to 24, to get involved in creating projects that engage both LGBTQ community and its rights.

The application and more information are available at tinyurl.com/Fall2018YLT.

Applications are due July 30.
