Arts Guild accepting entries for juried show

‘Art in the Age of Anxiety’ to run Aug. 30 to Oct. 1|

The Arts Guild of Sonoma is staging a new exhibit entitled “Art in an Age of Anxiety,” which will run from Aug. 30 through Oct. 1.

“Although first coined by W.H. Auden in 1948 to describe the fear, disillusionment, confusion and dismay that Europeans endured, we know full well that the ‘Age of Anxiety’ is not contained in the past,” said gallery manager Laura Leipzig.

“We are highly conscious of the perils of our era, from the rise of fascism, environmental concerns, threats to privacy, terrorism, drugs and assaults on our democracy. Artists help to chronicle, illuminate and cope with this anxiety.”

The Arts Guild of Sonoma is inviting artists to participate in its national juried exhibition, Art in an Age of Anxiety.

The deadline for entries is July 21.

The juror will be artist Chester Arnold.

The Arts Guild is located at 140 East Napa St.
