Readers’ Books presents an evening of the history of the zen movement in America at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 26.

Janica Anderson and Steven Schwartz will read and discuss their book, “Zen Odyssey,” which chronicles the story of Sokei-An and Ruth Fuller Saski’s journey that shaped American zen. Ann Watts, daughter of Alan Watts, will present “The Collected Letters of Alan Watts,” which tells the story of Watts’s life from his school days, priesthood in the Anglican Church, to his alternative lifestyle of the late 1960s. Together, these two books offer an entree into the history of zen in America.
