Sonoma’s Plein Air Foundation to sponsor new art show

Open call for visual artists now through March 23|

The Sonoma Plein Air Foundation is sponsoring a new community artist show, “A Valley of Talent,” and has announced an open call for local visual artists with a deadline of March 23.

Artists are invited to submit as many as three images of artwork they would like to exhibit in the media of painting, drawing, printmaking, collage or photography. This is not a plein air exhibit, so works in all styles and subject matter will be considered: abstract, figurative, still life and landscape.

Art for the exhibit will be selected by a panel of jurors from the Sonoma Arts Guild, Sonoma Plein Air Foundation and local art instructors. There is no entry fee, and artists must live or work in the Sonoma Valley – from Sonoma through Oakmont area. All artists will be notified by March 31. Complete entry details are on the website at sonomapleinair.com

“A Valley of Talent” will be held at the Sonoma Community Center, Friday, April 13, with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. This will coincide with the “Small But Grand” show – the annual middle and high school art exhibition at the Arts Guild, reception from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Sonoma Plein Air Foundation raises funds through the Sonoma Plein Air Festival, held each September. The 16th annual festival takes place Sept. 10 to 15.
