Community gathering in Kenwood on Dec. 30

Group art project at Belos Cavalos on Dec. 30|

Belos Cavalos Equine Assisted Programs is hosting a free community gathering from 3 to 6 p.m. at Saturday, Dec. 30.

The nonprofit's Wildfire Memory Garden Project is a community-wide event centered around the idea of relaxing and relating to horses. Attendees are invited to meet the “Happiness is a Warm Quilt” group, participate in a healing ceremony and create their own memory garden.

Attendees are asked to bring a dish or beverage for the community potluck.

Quilts and memory garden materials will be provided for free to all who lost homes.

The project will be led by Erica Tom, the director of arts and education at Belos Cavalos. Tom is an independent artist, who specializes in creating public art projects collaboratively with communities.

Belos Cavalos provides no-cost “trauma-informed equine experiential education” programs in partnership with Valley of the Moon Children's Center, serving at-risk youth, foster children and families in Sonoma County and beyond. Additionally, Belos Cavalos improves health and wellness, provides personal and group educational experiences, and further supports the arts and movement research through equine assisted programs.

The facility is located at 687 Campagna Ln, Kenwood
