Sonoma’s Depot Park Museum to reopen

Celebration set for Nov. 11|

Sonoma’s Depot Park is holding its grand reopening celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. There are new exhibits, a book launch, a lecture about M.F.K. Fisher and refreshments. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Author Barbara White Perry will launch the second edition of her book, “Drawing Sonoma,” on Saturday.

In 1999, White Perry began documenting Sonoma Valley’s historic and unique properties with ink and vine charcoal drawings, and colorful stories of each property’s past. The first edition was published in 2015. The second edition, released this fall, contains 55 images and stories.

White Perry has been painting and drawing since a child for more than 40 years and calls Sonoma Valley her home. She was named Sonoma Treasure Artist by the City of Sonoma’s Cultural and Fine Arts Commission in 2015.

As part of the reopening celebration, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Kathleen Hill will speak on “Hundreds of Hours in the Last House with M.F.K. Fisher.” The free talk is part of the Sonoma Valley Historical Society’s “Second Saturday" lecture series.

The Depot Park Museum is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at 270 Frist Street West. 938-1762. depotparkmuseum.org
