The Mayacamas Volunteer Fire Department will put down their hoses this month to put on its annual Starlight Dinner and Auction.

The Aug. 19 event, held on Gordenker Ranch in the foothills of Glen Ellen, will feature a western theme and attendees are encouraged to come in gear and dance to dance to the ragtime sounds of Hobo Paradise.

The event will be catered by Olive and Vine, with “excellent local wines served under the stars in a heritage oak grove,” according to a press release from the department.

Mayacamas Fire officials say the dinner, now in its 23rd year, “has become famous in our local area as a quintessential summer event. The casual theme, incredible food and live music create an atmosphere of community that is uniquely ‘Mayacamas.’”

The Mayacamas Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1980 and covers an area from the Napa County line to Sonoma and Glen Ellen in the west, Schelleville in the south and Kenwood in the north.

The event begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are $75 general; $650 for a table of 10. Proceeds support the MVFD. For tickets and information, call 933-8876 or visit mayacamasvfd.org.
