Lecture features Italian female painters, poets

Former Sonoman now living in Italy|

Former Sonoma resident Alexandra Lawrence, now a specialized private tour guide in Florence, Italy, and a university instructor at several American and British universities, will return to Sonoma on Aug. 16 for a lecture at Vintage House senior center.

A graduate from Sonoma Valley High School and currently living in Florence with her husband and 8-year-old son, Lawrence often leads tours of Sonoma’s Sister City, Greve in Chianti, which is approximately 20 miles south of Florence.

Lawrence will lecture on “Rethinking Women: A Look at Female Painters and Poets in Renaissance Italy,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, in Stone Hall of Vintage House senior center, 264 First St. E., Sonoma. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted at the door. Refreshments will be served.
