Award-winning Sonoma Plein Air works on display

Festival ‘artists choice’ works at Adastra gallery through August|

This year’s Sonoma Plein Air Festival is still a month away – it takes place Sept. 16 – but that doesn’t mean art lovers have to wait to see quality plein air works.

Throughout August, Adastra Wine and Art at 5 E. Napa St. is hosting an Invitational Exhibition of “artists choice” winners from the past 15 years of the Plein Air Festival. Also on display will be a selection of watercolors from the late Dick Cole, himself a past Artists Choice winner, as well as the 2016 Sonoma Treaure Artist.

The 15th anniversary Invitational Exhibition will also showcase works from Keith Wicks, Kevin Courter, Amy Erickson and Eric Bowman, among others.

Most paintings are available for sale, with 40 percent of proceeds going to fund youth art education in Sonoma.

The exhibit is open Thursday through Monday between noon and 6 p.m., with complimentary and paid wine tasting options from Adastra available throughout. Wine selections include small-lot chardonnay, pinot noir, syrah, and merlot made from organically farmed Carneros grapes, along with the organically-farmed Stable Pinot Gris and Ed’s Red blend.
