Hit the Road Jack! begins and ends at Sonoma Plaza Sunday

The 30th annual Hit the Road Jack! race will bring some excitement to Sonoma’s normally quiet streets on Sunday morning, June 4. Competitors for the longest race of the day, the half marathon, will start at 7:30 a.m. for the 13-mile run, one of two new events this year.

The Sonoma Volunteer Firefighter’s Association, which took over the event in 2013, has also added a Kids Dash with a 10 a.m. start, for ages 9 and under.

Other races of the day include the 3.5K run/walk and the traditional 10K run, both starting at 8 a.m.

All races start on Spain Street on the north side of the Plaza and head east, though rural neighborhoods and vineyards, following separate loops to end back at the plaza.

This legacy community event takes place on the historic Sonoma Plaza where over 1,000 runners, volunteers and supportive families congregate to celebrate Sonoma and an active, healthy lifestyle.

The new Kids Dash is designed to be a family-friendly event, with each entrant receiving a free t-shirt that can be colored in with fabric markers. Fees for the Kids Dash are $15.

For the 3.5K, for youth 16 and under, $20 or $25 race day; adult 17 and over is $35 or $40 race day, family of 4, $90 ($20 for each additional family member up to six members). The family discount will not be available on race day.

Fee for the 10K is $20 advance, $30 race day for youth 16 and under; and $35 advance, $40 race day for adults while the fee for the half marathon is $65 advance, $75 at packet pick up and race day.

Packet pickup registration is from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Sonoma Fit, 19310 Sonoma Highway, Sonoma. Race-day registration is from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m., June 4 on the Plaza. For more information or to register for the race, visit hittheroadjack.org.
