AGE OUT LOUD, MAY 18

Santa Rosa: Aging Together Sonoma County hosts a free celebration of Older Americans Month from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at Spring Lake Regional Park, 393 Violetti Road. The event includes lunch, music, a ranger talk, walks and games. Free parking at Spring Lake Regional Park's Lower Jackrabbit day use area. HIKE AND PICNIC, MAY 19

Santa Rosa: Bring dinner for a picnic and a walk and talk with naturalist Denise Cadman at Santa Rosa's Alpha Farm on a bank of the Laguna de Santa Rosa from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Meet at Heron Hall at the Laguna Environmental Center, 900 Sanford Road before car pooling to Alpha Farm. Preregistration required at LandPaths.org.

SPRING FAMILY HIKE, MAY 20

Santa Rosa: Hike with a naturalist at 1, 2 or 3 p.m. Saturday at Spring Lake Regional Park, 393 Violetti Road. Meet at the Environmental Discovery Center. Parking, $7. Call 707-539-2865 for information.

FAMILY FUN DAY, MAY 20

Glen Ellen: Learn about nature's own recycling system during a 45-minute nature walk, then stay for games and craft making during Family Fun Day. FAMILY HIKE, MAY 20

Santa Rosa: Moderate, slow pace 1.5-mile family hike with bilingual guide from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Pepperwood Preserve, 2130 Pepperwood Preserve Road. Meet at the Dwight Center. Free, donations accepted. Stay and picnic after the walk. Visit pepperwood preserve.org.

SCAVENGER HUNT, MAY 20

Santa Rosa: Free scavenger hunt for kids ages 6 to 12, and those younger than 6 accompanied by an adult, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Howarth Memorial Park, 600 Summerfield Road. The scavenger hunt starts at the train station and leads to the “secret” location of a celebration with treats and activities. The event is part of the national Kids to Parks celebration. PLOWING DAY, MAY 21

Glen Ellen: Jack London State Historic Park's annual Plowing Day at Beauty Ranch is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, and includes free wagon rides, blacksmithing and horseshoeing demonstrations, 2400 London Ranch Road. $10 per vehicle.
