50 years later: A look back at Sonoma County Parks

Hard to believe, but our beloved Sonoma County parks are turning 50. Have you been to them all? Take a look.|

2017 marks the 50th anniversary of Sonoma County Regional Parks. On January 30, 1967, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution to create the Sonoma County Parks and Recreation Department. They started with just one park - Doran Beach in Bodega Bay - a 2-mile long stretch of beach perfect for walking surfing, flying kites and bird-watching. Over the years, our regional parks have grown to more than 11, 000 acres, hosting more than 5 million annual visitors in its 56 parks, trails and beaches.

Regional Parks has packed the year with a slew of activities, including wildflower walks, family hikes, birdwatching, camps for kids and more. See their website for details.
