Nelson, Hockman and LemMon honored by Kenwood Education Foundation

Big Heart Awards celebrates community spirit|

The Kenwood Education Foundation’s Big Heart community spirit awards on Feb. 3 celebrated the community service contribution of Gary, Nelson, Peter Hockman and Lesley LemMon.

The awards, sponsored by the Kenwood Education Foundation (KEF), were developed to honor the generosity of locals who have made exceptional contributions of time, resources and energy to Kenwood students.

Gary Nelson is a philanthropist and longtime supporter of the Kenwood Education Foundation, as well as an active supporters of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Valley Hospital and Transcendence Theater. He’s also an investor in Sonoma Media Investments which owns the Index-Tribune.

Peter Hockman runs the after-school Cougar Club program at Kenwood School, serving as a mentor and role model to dozens of local children.

Kenwood School parent Lesley LemMon was honored for her active role as a volunteer at Kenwood Elementary. She is a former president of the Kenwood Education Foundation.

The event took place at Deerfield Ranch Winery.
