Master gardener to speak at Quarryhill on Oct. 1

Summer is easy. Learn how to have a gorgeous fall and winter garden.|

Sara Malone, Sonoma County master gardener, blogger and editor of the American Conifer Society’s website, will lead a free workshop this weekend on the best plants for fall and winter gardens. She will be speaking from 10 to 11 a.m. at Quarryhill Botanical Garden on Saturday, Oct.1.

Malone will focus on plants that don’t disappear during the colder months and that provide color, texture and structure after the flowering perennials have gone into dormancy. She’ll also show how you to explore Quarryhill and other botanical gardens to get ideas for your own garden. Malone has served as a judge for the San Francisco Botanical Garden at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show since 2013.

Her garden has been featured in Fine Gardening, Garden Design and Pacific Horticulture magazines and has been the site for many garden tours.

Registration is required in advance at 996-3166 and space is limited. Quarryhill Botanical Garden is located at 12841 Sonoma Highway in Glen Ellen.
