The 2015 Sonoma Wine Country Weekend raised an impressive $3,487,000 for local nonprofits and event organizers are gearing up this week for the 2016 weekend of festivities.

Friday, Sept. 2 is the “Sonoma Starlight” event in Geyserville from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Guests will dine, drink and dance poolside at Francis Ford Coppola’s winery.

General admission tickets at $125 are still available. Also available are reserve tickets at $175 with special seating and access to reserve wines.

On Saturday, Sept. 3, the “Taste of Sonoma” will be held at MacMurray Estate Vineyards in Healdsburg. Guests sample food and wine from more than 200 wineries and 60 chefs from throughout Sonoma County.

Admission ranges from $165 to $195.

Guests also choose seminars and demonstrations that cover a wide range of topics from terroir to technique, as well as chef’s tips and tricks.

The main event is the annual “Sonoma Harvest Wine Auction” which will be held on Sunday from 12:30 to 7 p.m. at Chateau St. Jean Winery in Kenwood. Tickets are $500. This year’s theme is From Sonoma to Marrakesh, and the day includes a sizeable live auction. Sonoma Wine Auction was named the third best charitable wine auction last year by Wine Spectator magazine.

Including the 2015 tally, Wine Country Weekend has over the years invested more than $20 million in local nonprofits.

The weekend is billed as Sonoma County’s largest charity event.

The event is produced by the Sonoma County Vintners and the Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Association.
