The Pagani Winery at Glen Ellen, one of the old and best-known of the upper valley, is having another unit added to the new addition built last year. Complete modernization of the crushing department with new machinery to be installed in the wing under construction, is announced by the firm. ... Wm. J. Young, of San Francisco, 90 years old, is again spending his summer vacation at Cuicci’s. He is as dapper looking as ever. ... R. R. Emparan, Mrs. R. P. Hill and Dr. Butler attended the state institutions conference in San Francisco at the Palace Hotel this week. ... Louis Martin, Sonoma Valley’s own, and one of the best caterers and mixologists this side of San Francisco, is greeting patrons at Agua Caliente Springs Hotel. ... Following a hospital committee meeting Sunday with Frank Bartholomew, owner of the hospital building on Buena Vista rancho, and a discussion of terms for the leasing of the structure for Sonoma’s community hospital, the project seems assured, provided sufficient funds are subscribed. ... Frank Pensar who has taught in the Sonoma Valley Union high school for 11 years, has resigned his position and will teach mechancial drawing at Mare Island.

Subject to the Navy lease “for the duration” the beautiful Sonoma Mission Inn at Boyes Hot Springs, has been sold by Mrs. Emilie Long, managing owner, to Geo. Thompson and E. B. DeGolia, the chair hotel investors and operators. They plan to conduct the hotel after the war and make it one of California’s show places. ... Tuneful choruses, gay costumes, and drills and dances are being featured as the curtain rises on “Victory Vanities” the hilarious comedy show that is being presented by the Jack London Post of the American Legion at the Sonoma High School auditorium for the benefit of their Rehabilitation Fund for returning service men.
