Sonoma’s cherished landmark, the Mission San Francisco de Solano, has been receiving needed improvements the past two weeks as the result of money appropriated by the Richarson administration at the behest of Senator Slater and the local committe. A bill providing $2,000 per year for the next two years passed the 1923 legislature and was signed by the Governor, thus making the money now in use available. ... M. G. Renslinger, formerly of Oakland has bought out the business of P. C. Meinhardt and will conduct a first class cleaning and dyeing works for Sonoma Valley. After the first of the year, Mr. Renslinger will inagurate a call and delivery system. ... A welcome home reception to Rev. John F. Byrne and farewell to Rev. Costa who was acting pastor of St. Francis in Father Byrne’s absence was given Thursday night by local YMI and YLI Councils.

Last Saturday afternoon the big dredger “Sonoma” which has been achored at the Jones ranch near McGills, preparatory to going into service near Oakland, was discovered in flames by caretaker Phillips who returned after two hours absence and found a fire raging aboard, the origin of which is undeterminded. ... Messrs Lang and Basaglia, local contractors who will put up the concrete French Laundry building for P. Lembeye, have an attractive sign on the site of the building opposite St. Francis church indicating the exact location of the contemplated building. ... Mrs. W. H. Chipman, Miss Caroline Chipman and Herbert Chipman of Hilo, Hawaii are visiting Mrs. Charmian London at Glen Ellen. The visitors are returning from Europe and are enroute home. ... After thorough investigation, the Chamber of Commerce finds that it is not practicable to get gas in Sonoma Valley. There would not be a sufficient number of consumers to assure the company a proper return on the investment, declared the PG&E representative, Mr. Ross, who came to Sonoma on Friday of last week to discuss the matter.
