It’s Summer Sonoma! Yay! On Monday, June 8, our 10th annual Summer Camp starts at 9 a.m. sharp and this first week is jam packed. So are many of the weeks ahead, so register in advance. This year will be very special with our star poodle, Holly and her human Fran Knight, joining us every week along with our friend Jackson, the pit bull and his human Roxanne Alden and Lynette Lyon of Lyon Ranch with her entourage of exotic critters. That is in between the kids making cat toys and dog treats, hanging out in the kitten room and running around in the dog yard. It is always my favorite time of year and we are so grateful to the kids and parents whose love for animals brings them here during the summer.

A big thank you to Sonoma Market for running the eScrip program in the store all year. Many of the nonprofits in the Valley are benefitting and we are just one of the lucky ones. Because so many of our donors are dedicated Sonoma Market shoppers, Pets Lifeline has raised $3,708 from the eScrip program. This is a beautiful thing! We are so lucky to have a hometown grocery store like Sonoma Market. Dale Downing and Don Shone are true community leaders and Al Minero, the general manager runs the store like a well-oiled machine. Thank you all!

Today is the last day of our Saving Pets Challenge, so if you have a quick minute, go to our website and click through for an online donation. We thank everyone who has donated to help us try to meet the challenge and as of this writing, we raised over $10,600 to go toward our end of year goals. We are, as always, taking donations; so if you missed the Challenge, feel free to make any kind of donation you’d like. The dogs and cats (and the staff) at Pets Lifeline thank you.

Another way to support us is to drink more! Well, kind of. June 1 through June 7, the Girl and the Fig is hosting Negroni week with a menu of drinks named after some of our beloved pets with $1 for each drink sold, going to Pets Lifeline. The Timmy Classico and Cowboy Chocolate are my kitties namesakes and the Pisco Lucy is for Sondra’s precious pooch. So go to the Fig every night after work (or in the middle of the day) if you like and imbibe on a refreshing Campari cocktail.

And for you wine lovers, Chateau St. Jean is donating 10 percent of the proceeds of the sale of their 2012 Dry Creek Merlot and 2012 Robert Young Reserve Chardonnay for the entire month of June. To kick this off we will be out at the winery in Kenwood for an adoption event this weekend, Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 from noon to 4 p.m. Come meet some of our delightful doggies and cuddly kittens and sip on some delicious wines from Chateau St. Jean. It is an lovely place to spend the afternoon.

We’ve had a wave of little Chihuahua mixes lately and most of them are puppies. Right now, Wyatt, our little 2-month-old moca-colored Chihuahua mix is melting our hearts, as is Bella, a sweet 5-month-old black and brown girl (with cute white paws) and Marty, a 9-month-old fawn-colored Chi who is a total pistol. And we have kittens with more coming in every day, so come on down to the shelter, come visit us at Chateau St. Jean this weekend or see us at Pet Food Express on Friday, June 12.

Until we meet again ... peace, love and paws.
