Open house Saturday, Olate Dogs Dec. 28

Happy Holidays Sonoma! I hope everyone is having a peaceful and relatively stress-free holiday so far.|

Happy Holidays Sonoma! I hope everyone is having a peaceful and relatively stress-free holiday so far. The rain is a wonderful addition, but can add a bit of stress to our already crazy fast- paced lives.

It is definitely a challenge to get Doc out for walks with the rainy weather as I need to gear up with the proper attire and accept the sogginess of it all. He loves the rain like a kid and will go to every puddle he sees and jump in with a splash. He usually looks for the muddiest one he can find. Yes, indeed, that’s my boy. It might just be my dog, but he seems to need to go out more often when it’s raining.

It might be that he’s grown very fond of the warm towel rub down he gets when we get back inside. Heaven forbid I don’t have the towel handy right by the door as he’ll only give me about 30 seconds before he goes into the middle of the living room to shake it off. Yuck! He has me trained very well.

Please join us tomorrow on Saturday Dec. 20, for Pets Lifeline’s Holiday open house. We’ll have hot cider and freshly baked cookies all day and an ugly sweater contest with the winner announced at 4 p.m. Our pet adoption fees will be negotiable for this one day only for both dogs and cats as a special holiday bonus.

Even if you’re not in the market for an animal, stop by to say hello and check us out. Pets Lifeline loves that we are your community shelter and we want to share some holiday cheer with you.

On the entertainment front, get your tickets now for The Olate Dogs Holiday Rescue Tour at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building on at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28.

Hot off the highly rated Thanksgiving “Cause for Paws” television special with Hilary Swank and a plethora of A-Listers, The Olate Dogs are true “spokes dogs” for the all rescue canines everywhere. Father Richard, son Nicholas and The Olate Dogs are best known for winning the million-dollar prize on season seven of “America’s Got Talent.” The Olate Dogs are also movie stars. In addition to their performance, we will screen their new film , “Forever Home: A Holiday Tail” produced by Halo, Purely for Pets. The tour is presented by Pets Lifeline in conjunction with the Sonoma International Film Festival.

General admission tickets are only $25 for children under 12 and $35 for adults. There are also a limited number of VIP tickets at $75 for both children and adults which include front section reserved table seating and a post event reception with the Olate’s and their family of precious pooches. For tickets, go to olatedogs.com or petslifeline.org. What better way to continue the holiday spirit than with a family friendly event on a Sunday afternoon.

Of course, Pets Lifeline, has some pretty talented canines who would love to find a home for the holidays. Please like us on Facebook at Pets Lifeline of Sonoma Valley. There are always some great stories there and soon we will be posting fun videos of our adoptable dogs. We have some cutie patooties here in the precious pooch department, so come on down.

We’ve been finding lots of homes for our furry feline friends as well, but still have two rooms full of the awesome catness. The whole month of December is a name your own adoption fee for the cats in residence and there are old cats, young cats and even a few small kittens who are just waiting for the forever home.

Have a safe and joyful Holiday. I hope to see you all soon, but until then ... peace, love and paws.
