Lady Dragons wallop El Mo

Continuing their dominating march through the Sonoma County League schedule in quest of their fourth straight title, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity volleyball girls completely overwhelmed longtime SCL rival El Molino for a 3-0 match victory last Thursday night in Pfeiffer Gym.

The Lady Dragons swept all three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-8 and 25-15 to improve their overall record to 18-3 and SCL mark to 8-0.

Leading the Sonoma spikers past the visiting Lions were senior Mackenzie Albrecht’s 28 assists, seven digs and two blocks; sophomore Jenna Mak's 20 digs, six serving aces and three kills; senior Delaney Swanson’s 17 kills, 10 digs and three aces; senior Cheyene McCambridge's 11 digs and two aces; senior Ciara Smith's five kills and one block; sophomore Kiara Miles' five digs and one ace; junior Courtney Cogbill's five assists; junior Carlie Vollert's three kills and one block; and junior Sami Von Gober's three digs and one ace.

The Lady Dragons have four league matches remaining in the regular season, including tonight’s battle with Analy in Sebastopol, then hosting Healdsburg in “M.V.P.” Night” – Mikey’s Volleyball Pledge – at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in Pfeiffer Gym, which is a fundraiser supporting Sonoma senior Mike Seelye’s cancer fight.

Sonoma’s varsity team is asking spectators to pledge an amount for every kill, ace, block, dig and assist the team scores in Thursday’s match.

“Mikey Seelye has been a die-hard Dragons’ volleyball supporter, often seen at every match front and center in the student cheering section, encouraging our volleyball team. Now we want to turn our support to Mikey, encouraging him as he serves up his own ace against cancer,” stated the Lady Dragons’ varsity volleyball team.
