Lady Dragons pound Piner on road

Completely dominating Tuesday evening’s Sonoma County League match in Santa Rosa from the outset, the defending champion Sonoma Valley High School varsity volleyball girls rolled past Piner for a one-sided 25-8, 25-15, 25-11 triumph.

The Lady Dragons, who hosted SCL foe Elsie Allen last night – results not available at presstime – entered the match ranked No. 1 in North Coast Section Division-3, while improving their overall record to 15-4, and remained unbeaten in SCL play with a 4-0 mark.

Leading the Lady Dragons were junior Mackenzie Albrecht’s 12 assists and sophomore Carlie Vollert’s 10 assists; sophomore Sami Von Gober’s six kills and five digs; junior Delaney Swanson’s five kills, five digs and two serving aces; freshman Jenna Mak’s five digs, four kills and three aces; frosh Kiara Miles’ five digs, three kills and one ace; senior Kayten Mak’s five kills; junior Ciara Smith’s three kills, two aces and one solo block; and senior Gianna Monterosso’s three assists and two aces.

The Sonoma spikers, will play league road matches at Petaluma this Tuesday, Oct. 8, and, following a bye, at El Molino on Tuesday, Oct. 15, before returning home to host SCL rival Analy on Thursday, Oct. 17, in Pfeiffer Gym.
