Hoping to put together a winning regular season stretch drive and enter the postseason with a good dose of momentum, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity basketball girls used a total team effort to romp to their second straight one-sided Sonoma County League victory to remain alone in second place.

Scoring the first 16 points of Wednesday evening’s SCL game in Pfeiffer Gym before Piner found the net with a long trey, the Lady Dragons built up a 17-5 first-quarter lead, and extended their advantage to 33-9 at the half.

Then, after junior power forward Delaney Swanson scored 11 straight points in the third quarter, Sonoma cruised through the fourth period for a 60-27 triumph over the visiting girl Prospectors.

Improving their SCL record to 7-2 with three games to go before the postseason league tournament, the Lady Dragons will host Elsie Allen tonight at 7 p.m. in Pfeiffer Gym.
