Lady Dragons all over Analy

Facing their third consecutive longtime Sonoma County League nemisis to start the SCL season, the defending champion Sonoma Valley High School varsity volleyball girls made the point, for the third straight time, of showing their strong intentions of continuing their three-year reign.

The Lady Dragons, who toppled Petaluma in their SCL opener, followed by their dominating victory over El Molino, hosted Analy last Thursday night in Pfeiffer Gym and took control midway through the first set, which they ended up winning 25-22.

Sonoma then proceeded to finish off their trifecta sweep by caging the visiting Tiger girls 25-8, 25-20 in the second and third sets, respectively, for the match triumph.

Leading the Lady Dragons were senior Mackenzie Albrecht's 37 assists, nine digs, three kills and one block; senior Delaney Swanson's 16 digs, 13 kills, two serving aces and a block; sophomore Jenna Mak's 14 digs, six kills and three aces; sophomore Kiara Miles' 10 kills, 10 digs, three aces and two blocks; junior Sami Von Gober’s eight digs and an ace; senior Hannah Herrick’s seven digs, three kills and two aces; and senior Ciara Smith's five kills and one block.

Improving their overall record to 8-2, and SCL mark to 3-0, with the win, the Sonoma spikers hit the road for a tough SCL match at Healdsburg tonight, before hosting Piner at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, in Pfeiffer Gym.
