Lady Dragons again come up short in golf, tennis

On the heels of a pair of tough Sonoma County League home losses last Tuesday, Sonoma Valley High School's girls' golf and tennis teams hit the road on Thursday and were handed two more defeats by SCL foes Piner and Analy, respectively.

Playing at The Links at Bodega Harbour Golf Course, the Lady Dragons dropped a 293-328 decision to Piner.

Pacing Sonoma with a nine-hole round of 64 each were juniors Isabel Garon and Callie Hogan, and freshman Candice Silkey, who were followed by frosh Hannah Ladouceur’s 67 and junior Anna De Smet’s 69.

The Lady Dragon golfers host both Elsie Allen and Petaluma in 3:30 p.m. SCL matches at the Sonoma Golf Club course today and Thursday, Sept. 25, respectively.

Winning matches for the Lady Dragons were junior Emma Stanfield, who edged Alya Bohr 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles; and senior Annie Morgan and junior Hannah Adams, who beat Giana Sarsfield and Alma Meckler-Pacheco by an injury default at No. 3 doubles.

Sustaining Sonoma's losses were senior Cecilia Montano’s 0-6, 2-6 to Jade Wight at No. 1 singles; senior Hanna Lemaire’s 2-6, 6-7 (9) to Hillary Brennan at No. 2 singles; junior Brenda Maldonado’s 3-6, 2-6 to Kate Stewart at No. 4 singles; senior Isabel Hernandez and sophomore Kasey Richards’ 1-6, 6-7 (2) to Allegra Diamond and Hannah Caruso at No. 1 doubles; and senior Stephanie Angulo and sophomore Sydney Moore's 4-6, 57 to Shania Harsono and Quiana Stodder at No. 2 doubles.

The Lady Dragon netters host league foe Elsie Allen at 3:30 p.m. today on the high school courts, before traveling to Healdsburg for an SCL match Thursday, Sept. 25.
