Lady Dragon golfers can’t catch Piner at SGC course

Trying to rally from an early deficit, the Sonoma Valley High School girl golfers came up short with their determined rally and dropped a 293-315 Sonoma County League decision to Piner in their home finale Tuesday afternoon at the Sonoma Golf Club course.

Pacing the Lady Dragons were junior Jacquline Regan’s fine team-best nine-hole round of 53, followed by junior Anna DeSmet and

freshman Candice Silkey’s 64 each, and juniors Isabel Garon and Callie Hogan’s 67 apiece.

Piner’s Alysa Gallegos fired an impressive medalist round of 4-over-par 40.

The Sonoma golfing girls played Elsie Allen in the regular season finale yesterday in Santa Rosa – results not available at presstime – and will host this year’s SCL championship tournament starting at noon on Monday, Oct. 20, at the Oakmont East Golf Course in Santa Rosa.
