June Marie Poseley Graham

June Marie Poseley Graham 93, of El Verano, passed away peacefully at home with her beloved caregivers and friends at her bedside. June was born on Dec. 29, 1920, in Jamestown, N.D., to Anna Elizabeth Hamm Poseley and Louis M. Poseley.

She met Mark Graham at Crystal Plunge Pools in San Francisco where they both taught swimming. They married in August 1963.

June had a full and active life starting with a wonderful childhood of happy family activities with her siblings, a river to swim in during the summer and skate on during the winter. Many cousins lived nearby.

When June became an adult, she became a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II, working on lanes. She learned to fly small planes, one time landing in a cornfield when her craft ran out of fuel. She could do spins and fly upside down.

June was a faithful member of St. Frances Solano Church in Sonoma.

She walked everywhere including to the Vintage House during the week for lunch.

She belonged to the Valley of the Moon Garden Club which she joined in 1989 serving as president, secretary, board member and historian. She used her skills as a photographer to help assemble many albums recording the activities of the club. Those activities included gardening projects at the Sonoma Community Center, the library, the Plaza and especially at the Sonoma Mission, helping to plant and maintain historically accurate displays.

Her other interests include photography which she studied at Santa Rosa J.C. and swimming which she continued into her later years.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Mark. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and good friends.

No formal services will be held. Private inurnment at Mountain Cemetary alongside her husband’s grave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Francis Solano Catholic School.
