Judy T. Beatty

Judy T. Beatty, 73, died March 15, 2014, at her home in Sonoma. She was born and raised in Japan on Aug. 24, 1940. Judy moved to the United States in 1960 and went to cosmetology school in Virginia. Eventually, she made her way out west.

She had been a very enthusiastic cosmetologist, owning three hair salons during her life, the first one being in Marina Del Rey, then one in Lake Tahoe for five years. In 1980, Judy settled in Sonoma and purchased Talk of the Town, a hair salon next to Longs, for 20 years. She retired in 1999.

She also loved gardening, travel, football and entertaining. Judy will be dearly missed by all who had known her personality, sense of humor and her love for life.

Judy was predeceased by her husband, James W. Beatty. She is survived by her two sisters, Reiko and Yaskuo; one niece, Momi, and her three children. She is also survived by her soulmate, Matthew Bostwick, with whom she shared 21 years of love and laughter; and his family – Liz Kreig, Joan Freeman; and nieces and nephews Laura, Ben, Brandon, and Ryan Freeman.

A graveside service will be held at Valley Cemetery, 425 E. MacArthur St., Sonoma, on April 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. Arrangements cared for under the direction of Duggan’s Mission Chapel, Mission Cremation Service.
