Joseph Pichie

Joseph Pichie, age 95, passed away on Aug. 25, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mildred; and his daughter, Frances. He is survived by his daughter Gail; granddaughters, Leslie and Tracey; and three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Logan and Brennen.

Joe was born in Alberta, Canada, and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. The family moved from Edmonton, Alberta, to San Mateo, in 1949. Upon retirement, Joe and Mildred moved to Sonoma in 1980.He belonged to the Knights of Columbus since the 1950s. He was a Fourth Degree Lifetime Member and his service included Treasurer and Grand Knight. He was always active in the Catholic parishes to which he belonged.Joe had a lifelong love of cars. He restored a 1936 Chevrolet and two Volvo P1800s, one for each of his granddaughters.Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from noon, followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St., Sonoma.A funeral Mass will be said on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church, 469 Third St. W. in Sonoma, with burial immediately following at St. Francis Solano Catholic Cemetery, 550 E.
