Jonathan “Jon” Marc Cutler

Also known in some circles as romance writer Chastity Sinclair. Jon left this planet way too soon, at the tender age of 66. He passed on August 31, from esophageal cancer. A graduate of Northwestern University, Jon grew up in Los Angeles and ventured to the Bay Area in the 1970’s. A Marin-ite for close to 30 years, he was a Real Estate Broker with Frank Howard Allen in Greenbrae…and always, a writer. (How many Realtors get fan mail on their property ads?)

In 2005 Jon landed in Sonoma and fell in love with the community. He joined the local Coldwell Banker office and set about making his mark as a leading Sonoma Realtor. His vibrant personality, wacky humor and signature style drew people to him wherever he went. He was often seen at Peet’s working on his latest romance novel, wearing his straw cowboy hat and favorite Hawaiian print shirt.

Jon is survived by his parents, Charles and Janet Cutler of Van Nuys, sister Jane Pullman of Westlake Village, brother Peter of Tehachapi, nephews Joshua and Michael Groner, and niece Rachel Groner. He will be sorely missed by his long-time girlfriend, Lanny Udell of San Rafael.

In keeping with his wishes, Jon’s ashes will be scattered near his former home at Stinson Beach, along with his cat Buster who pre-deceased Jon in 2005. A celebration of Jon’s life is being planned for October. Contributions in his memory will be welcomed by To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 367, Kentfield, CA 94914; or A.L.S. Association, P.O. Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007; or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Arrangements cared for by Duggan’s Mission Chapel, Mission Cremation Service. Inquiries to them at (707) 996-3655 or www.duggansmissionchapel.com.
