Joan Mullaney

Joan Mullaney (nee Meehan), a truly amazing and loving woman, left us on Feb. 2, 2014, unexpectedly. She died peacefully in her sleep at home in Sonoma.

She was the daughter of the late James Meehan and Annie McHugh; wife of the late James Conneely and former wife of Michael Mullaney, who remained a treasured friend; sister of the late Catherine Tracey, and James and Edward Meehan; beloved mother of Maureen Brady (Jim); grandmother of Dan Brady (Sarah); great-grandmother of Kayla and Tyler Brady; and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Joan led a full life spanning two continents. Born and raised in San Francisco, she lived in Perth, Australia, from 1966 to 1976, and from then on in Sonoma, the home she loved most of all.

She had a big heart and a bigger impact on the people she touched.

She loved to travel, especially her cruises, and enjoyed her many trips throughout the world. She loved to garden and looked forward to the frequent visits from her great-grandchildren, Kayla and Tyler, who lived next door and loved to visit with her.

She loved her pets, of which there were many throughout her life.

Please keep Joan’s spirit alive in your hearts. She will be watching over us all to make sure we live our lives to the fullest.

Proud of her pure Irish heritage, she was a longtime member of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians. She was also a member of the St. Leo’s Ladies Guild and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was a great friend to many others, who will truly miss her.
