Jack London Piano Club sets Sept. 14 concert

The Jack London Piano Club celebrates fall with the Harvest Concert piano recital from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, to benefit Jack London State Historic Park.

Since 2011 the Piano Club has presented quarterly concerts, raising more than $9,000 to benefit operations at the park.

Solo piano music, snappy tango, and vocals accompanied by the French horn combine for a rousing performance. The concert will be a blend of classical and popular piano music played by Russian-born concert pianist Zina Milyavsky; Jack London Park favorite, Jim Wittes; emerging young pianist, Rubina Mazurka; and award-wining Moldovan-born pianist Esfir Ross.

The special guest vocalist, Laura Benward, of the Vintage Singers, will be accompanied on the French horn by Jud Goodrich, founder of the Jack London Piano Club. And, Esfir Ross and Deborah Knapp, member of the San Francisco Accordion Chamber Ensemble will play a series of tangos.

Refreshments served at intermission.

The concert will be held in the House of Happy Walls Museum at Jack London State Historic Park, 2400 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen

Tickets, which include parking, are $20 and are available in advance at the Museum store, online at jacklondonpark.com or by calling 938-5216. Limited seating is available.
