HOSVA wineries pair wine, food

The Heart of Sonoma Valley Association has named the chefs that will be featured at its premier event of the year – the 24th annual Savor Sonoma Valley happening Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Twenty-six wineries throughout the Heart of Sonoma Valley will be showcasing the 2013 vintage from barrels, sampling new releases, and offering award-winning wines paired with food creations prepared by local chefs and restaurants.

Meet winemakers, taste reserve wines, sample barrel wines, mingle with wine lovers in caves and on crush pads, enjoy live music, tour wineries and vineyards, and savor a wonderful wine country weekend. Most importantly – this event offers guests the chance to take an advance look at what the 2013 vintage is going to be like in bottle.

“This year, we’re excited to announce a number of amazing local chefs and restaurants including chef Catherine Venturini of Olive & Vine Catering, Palooza Restaurant, Nellies Oysters, Charles Chocolates, The Farmers Wife, Heirloom Fine Foods, Chef Maria Belmonte, and more,” said Josie Gay, the group’s executive director. “We invite wine and food lovers out to celebrate the bounty of Sonoma Valley!”

Admission is $65 a person for a Weekend Pass – or $20 for a designated driver, which includes a souvenir wine glass and access to event tastings at all participating wineries. Advance ticket purchase is recommended, as tickets are limited.

Tickets and detailed information may be obtained online at heartofsonomavalley.com or by calling 431-1137.
