The Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley assembled a volunteer work party on a recent Saturday to work on the trail rebuilding project at Jack London State Historic Park. The crew was led by Community Service Chair Gary Edwards and included Sam Morphy, George Merrick, Chip Allen, JP Parker, Sandie Nalezny and her son, Cyman Dever (pictured). The Rotarians cleared a 300-foot length of the two-mile loop trail to be designated the “Rotary Loop.” This is part of a larger effort to restore the park’s historic trails. Additional Rotary work parties for the trail project are being planned.

Sonoma Branch Rabobankers donated 20 desktop computers to replace seven-year-old computers in the Valley of the Moon Teen Center. This donation benefits the teens who use the computer lab to complete homework assignments, college applications and resumes as well as to connect with friends and family in Sonoma and Mexico. Many of the teens don’t have access to computers in their homes  The computer lab is managed by teen center coordinator, James Cardenas from 3 to 7 p.m. every weeknight.

The Sonoma Branch Rabobankers went to the Valley of the Moon Teen Center to see the new computers that were installed, updated with new software, printer networked and connected to the internet by volunteer Chai Intarapravich of Chai’s Gourmet Foods. Chai also donated Quick Books software to the computer lab for use by SVTS’s teen-run businesses the Lovin’ Oven and Operation Bicycle Programs.
