Hometown Band sets two holiday concerts

The Sonoma Hometown Band will celebrate the holiday season by putting on two concerts under the direction of its new conductor, John Partridge.

“A Big Band Holiday” will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in Burlingame Hall, at the First Congregational Church, 252 W. Spain St., and again at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, in the Sonoma Valley High School Little Theatre.

Admission is free but donations are gladly accepted.

The concert will include seasonal favorites such as “Frosty the Snowman” as well as some big band numbers, a march and two pieces by Edward MacDowell which have been arranged for band by the new director.

The Hometown Band has been part of Sonoma’s civic life for more than 40 years and is open to anyone who wants to join. There are no auditions. Interested players should contact band president Mary Wimberley at 252-2993.
