Police Beat: Stolen car, hanky-panky, suspicious sandwich bags

Reports from Sonoma Police Department activity logs from Feb. 28 to March 10, 2019|

On Thursday, Feb. 28, while patrolling in the area of Second Street East at Blue Wing Drive, a deputy’s attention was drawn to a silver sedan with a vehicle-equipment infraction.

The deputy pulled the car over and asked for the driver’s identification, registration or vehicle insurance, none of which the driver could produce.

An administrative search on the car’s vehicle identification number, or VIN, showed that it had been reported as stolen from the Los Angeles International Airport Hertz car-rental agency several months ago. The driver, Hosea Larue Shaw, 31, informed the deputy he had been released from custody in San Mateo County on theft charges and was on probation. He was arrested and booked on felony theft, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony violation of probation and a misdemeanor of driving without a license. The woman with him, Maria Victoria Moonan, 28, was also arrested on the stolen vehicle charges. Both were booked into county jail.

On the evening of Saturday, March 2, a deputy patrolling Leveroni Road and Arnold Drive saw a vehicle without a reflective license plate. Stopping the car, the deputy asked for identification or registration, but the driver could not produce either. A records check showed that the driver, Driden Adrian Estrada, 31, had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. A search of the vehicle discovered a glass smoking pipe and suspicious sandwich bags, though no other contraband was immediately located. However when the deputy arrested Estrada and his female companion, Claudia Ledon, 33, she informed the deputy she had a small quantity of methamphetamine hidden in an article of clothing. Both were arrested and booked on misdemeanor charges of possession of controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia; Estrada was also charged with violation of probation.

On Wednesday, March 6, at about 9 p.m., a caller reported to Sonoma Police that a couple was parked near the corner of Oak and Railroad in El Verano, apparently engaged in an intimate act in an SUV. An officer arrived and located the vehicle, identifying it by the moisture on the inside of the windows and white smoke accompanied by the aroma of burned marijuana coming from the vehicle. The deputy asked the couple for identification, and although the man initially gave a false name, he later admitted to being Demariyae Isaac Webb, 20, who was on parole out of Sacramento. He was booked into county jail on a felony parole violation and a misdemeanor false identification. The adult female was released.
