Container project on Springs agenda

Mixed-use development on Hwy. 12|

This month’s Springs Community Alliance meeting will feature a presentation by Tim Sloat, real estate development manager for KS Mattson Partners LP, who will be presenting the latest designs for a recycled shipping container-based project on the property on Highway 12 where the Lanning Structures building currently sits.

This mixed-use development would include a casual dining restaurant with all-outdoor seating, a micro-retail shop, and three for-rent dwelling units. A formal application was recently submitted for design review and use permit with Sonoma County’s Permit and Resources Management Department.

There will also be an update of the Rapid Response program presented by a member of the local team. This is an initiative of North Bay Organizing Project and Sonoma Valley Action Coalition to provide legal observers, accompaniment and other support in event of action by immigration agents.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at La Luz Center, 17560 Greger St.

The meeting is open to the public and anyone with an interest in the Springs is welcome to attend and weigh in on issues that matter to them. Translation services will be provided.

SCA’s mission is to serve as a hub of communication and information affecting the interests and well-being of all people who live in, serve, or conduct business within the “Springs” neighborhoods of El Verano, Boyes Hot Springs, Fetters Hot Springs and Agua Caliente.

The goals of the alliance include economic development; environmental safety, beauty and preservation; traffic and roadway issues; health; community outreach and hospitality.

Regular meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month at La Luz from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
