Sonoma’s thriving Sherpa community remains on edge, as residents are gripped with concern for friends and family back home.

In the hopes of providing a modicum of relief to quake survivors in Nepal, the Sonoma community is coming together for a “Wine Country Dinner – Sherpa Family Benefit,” taking place Thursday, May 14 at 5 p.m. at Ramekins.

With 18 local restaurants participating as sponsors, as well as Skyy Vodka and the Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Alliance, the event should be replete with good food, good will, and lots of fundraising.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Himalayan Sherpa Club Sonoma, a nonprofit formed by local Sherpa to, according to an announcement for the event, “provide money directly to the small villages that suffered greatly and are not receiving the same level of relief that Katmandu residents are receiving.”

Speakers at the event will include Jon Reiter and Nima Sherpa.

The event is 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $200.

Space is limited; 450 W. Spain St. Visit ramekins.com.
